Abstract

It has long been known that feed is the most expensive part in the poultry farming, where up to 80% of all expenses are spent on them. But at such costs there is no guarantee that the food is balanced in nutrients, macro- and microelements, vitamins. Therefore, the quality of food, its usefulness and profitability is the main problem of modern poultry farming. To improve feed efficiency, the market offers a wide range of feed additives, one of which is widely known as a biologically active feed additive for the poultry farming  (“Feed Betaine”) containing as the main substance natural betaine (31,96%), crude protein (25,2%), as well as a natural complex of vitamins, amino acids, macrodements and microelements. The use of "Betaine" feed has several advantages: it increases survival rate as a natural growth stimulator, increases daily weight gains, reduces feed conversion, prevents the influence of thermal factors and regulates the water and salt balance, preventing diarrhea. To achieve this result with different ways of rearing poultry, they include the introduction of feed additives in compound feeds and premixes into the diet of young poultry, or through a drinking system. In a study conducted under production conditions, the effect of the “Betain” feed additive on live weight gain, the survival rate  of  turkey poults  during the study period at high summer temperatures was studied. It has been established that the “Betaine” feed additive in the amount of 2 l per 1 ton of compound feed is effective in reducing osmotic stress of turkey poults, as well as in increasing the survival rate  of young turkeys  by 5,26-7,66% compared to the control group, which indicates a positive effect on turkey growth rates.
