There are all the conditions for breeding beef cattle in the Stavropol Territory. There are
large areas of natural meadows and pastures in the region. With the rational use, they can be
the main sources of green and succulent fodder. The Kazakh Whiteheaded breed is grown in
four breeding farms with livestock of 3145 cows in the regional territory. The only beef breed
developed in Russia is the Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle breed. It was registered in the late 50s
of the last century. The breed inherited carcass traits from the Hereford cattle and resistance to
tuberculosis, brucellosis and other diseases, the tolerance to summer heat, winds and winter
frosts from the Kalmyk breed. Due to its high adaptive capacity, it is bred in almost all re
gions of our country. The research on the productivity of the Kazakh Whiteheaded breed was
carried out in the agricultural production cooperative collective breeding farm "Gigant" in
Blagodarnensky District of the Stavropol Territory. The farm maintains 1808 beef cattle, including 1263 cows. To establish a herd of the Kazakh Whiteheaded breed, 92 heifers and 4
bulls of the Kazakh Whiteheaded breed, born in 2002, were brought into the farm in 2003. In
2008, 208 heifers and 2 bulls, born in 2007, were brought from the agricultural production
cooperative collective breeding farm "Krasny Oktyabr" of the Pallasovsky District, Volgograd
Region. The evaluated animals of the Kazakh Whiteheaded breed in the herd of the farm have
a red color with white spots on the foreface, dewlap and lower body, which is typical for the
Kazakh Whiteheaded breed. Currently, the farm has 1794 heads, including 1256 cows. Animals, evaluated by 80% of characteristics, belong to the high quality class. The servicing
bulls, which are used in the herd, belong only to the elite-record class. When comparing the
live weight of cows with the breed standard, depending on the age of cows, the increase was
from 10.6 to 17.2%. The milk yield of cows is 194-216 kg, depending on calving. The Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle of the breeding farm have high genetic potential, which gives conditions for creating a new type of beef cattle on the basis of the farm.
