RESULTS OF GROWING LAMBS WITH DIFFERENT GENOTYPES WHEN USING FEED CONCENTRATE FOR STARTER RATION IN DIETS

Abstract

The use of new generation feed additives in the diets of young sheep of different genotypes, which ensure increased productivity and high quality lamb, is a current
trend in animal husbandry. Scientific and on-the-farm research on raising lambs of different
meat genotypes on diets with feed concentrate for starter ration was carried out in the agricultural production cooperative “Plemzavod Vtoraia Piatiletka” in the Ipatovsky District of the
Stavropol Territory. The inclusion of feed concentrate for starter ration with feed additives
“Organic” and “LaktuVet” in the diets of young rams in amounts of 5,0 and 3,0% of the feed
concentrate weight contributed to the high palatability of feed. In purebred Russian Meat Merino (RMM) young rams, the palatability of dry forage was 85,5 % and feed concentrate consumption was 92,0%. Crossbred young rams RMM x Сh (Charollais) and RMM x IDF (Ile de
France), compared with young animals of RMM, consumed more dry forage by 6,4 and
11,7%, feed concentrate – by 4,3 and 6,5%, which contributed to an increase in body nutrients. The developed recipe for feed concentrate for lambs of 0–4 months of age and the effect
of heterosis contributed to obtaining live weight in crossbreds RMM x Ch and RMM x IDF,
which was 34,8 and 37,4 kg. During the growing period, the greatest absolute live weight gain
with an increase in feed conversion by 12,0 and 14,1% (P ≤ 0.01) was obtained in crossbred
young rams RMM x Ch and RMM x IDF – 30,7 and 33,2 kg, respectively, compared to RMM
analogues.
