Over the past few years, among a lot of feed additives, which are used in
animal nutrition, probiotic preparations occupy a special place. Currently, new probiotics for
animals have been developed – “Bifidum FA” and “Zoonorm”. However, until now, science
and best practice do not have scientifically based data on the effect of “Bifidum FA” and
“Zoonorm” on the body of young sheep. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to establish
the effect of probiotics on the productivity of young sheep during the growing period (4–6
months). Scientific and commercial experiment was carried out on the peasant farm enterprise
“Arl” in the Yashkulsky District of the Republic of Kalmykia in 2023. In order to organize
scientific and commercial experiment based on the principle of analogy, taking into account
age and live weight, 26 young rams and 26 young ewes of the Kalmyk fat-tailed breed of 4
months of age were selected and divided into 4 groups of 13 head each. The use of biologically active substances (BAS) of a new generation (“Bifidum FA” and “Zoonorm” ) can improve
the growth and development of young sheep. The superiority of experimental young rams and
young ewes over herdmates of control groups I and II in terms of absolute increase in live
weight over the entire growing period was 5.3 and 4.8 kg, and in terms of average daily gain
in live weight – 88.7 and 80.0 g, respectively. At the same time, it should be noted that the
relative increase in live weight over the entire growing period of young ewes in both the experimental (58.8%) and control (40.2%) groups was higher in comparison to young rams –
47.3 and 30 .6%, respectively.
