PRODUCTIVITY OF NUCLEAR STOCK OF EWES AND MAIN RAMS OF THE LEADING BREEDING FARMS OF THE STAVROPOL TERRITORY

In the main breeding farms, sheep were valuated and the breeding and productive qualities of ewes and rams of fine-wool, semi-fine-wool and meat breeds were analyzed. The studies were conducted on six fine-wool, one semi-fine-wool and one meat breeds in the following breeding farms: “Manych”, “Russia” – on the Manych breed, “Put Lenina” – on the Stavropol breed, “Rodina” – on the Russian Meat Merino of the Apanasenkovsky District, “Plemzavod Vtoraya Pyatiletka” – on the Dzhalginsky Merino, The breeding farm named after the Hero of Socialist Labor V. V. Kalyagin – on the Caucasian breed of the Ipatovsky District and named after Lenin – on the Soviet Merino of the Arzgirsky District, “Vostok” – on the North Caucasian meat and wool breed of the Stepnovsky District and the state farm “Argonavt” – on the Tashlin breed of the Grachyovsky District. The aim of our research was to analyze the productivity parameters of the selected animals for further selection process in flocks and to show their superiority over the productivity parameters of the standard of all listed breeds to the minimum requirements. All selected ewes in all flocks for breeding fine-wool sheep exceeded the productivity parameters of the breed standard: in terms of live weight by 27,2%, washed wool yield – by 58,0%. For meat sheep, the selection differential was: in terms of live weight – 2,0 kg, or 3,3%, washed wool yield – 0,2 kg, or 6,7%. The stud rams, which were used in the flocks for further selection and breeding work, also exceeded the productivity parameters of the standard breed of fine-wool sheep: in terms of washed wool yield – by 1,0 – 3,4 kg, or 16,1 – 60,0%, in terms of live weight – by 13,0 – 38,0 kg, or 14,4 – 43,7%, which increased the effectiveness of the conducted selection and contributed to an increase in their productive parameters.
