Abstract

There was a comparative evaluation of the productivity of all turkey breeds of the primary gene pool and new populations of Blue and Red turkeys in Genetic Selection Centre
"North-Caucasian Zonal Experimental Station of Poultry". It was found that North Caucasian
Silver turkeys had high rates of feed consumption during the productive period – 201,7 g /
head per day, the lowest rate was noted in the Tikhoretskaya Black breed – 184,5 g / head per
day. On average, feed consumption for all breeds of the primary gene pool for the entire period was 192,3 g / head per day. Among the turkeys of the new gene pool, turkeys of the 607
group had a higher rate of feed consumption – 196,3 g / head per day, which was 12,8, 14,0
and 35,4 g / head per day more than turkeys of the 602group, Blue and Red, respectively.
During 20 weeks of productive period of the primary gene pool turkeys, the most highly efficient rate in terms of feed cost for the production of 10 eggs was in the North Caucasian
Bronze breed and amounted to 4.85 kg, which was 1,34, 1,10, 0,42, 0,43 kg less than Tikhoretskaya Black, North Caucasian Silver, Uzbek Buff and North Caucasian White breeds had,
respectively. The lowest rate in terms of feed cost for the production of 10 eggs of yearling
laying turkeys of the new gene pool in 20 weeks had turkeys – layers of the 602 group – 5,23
kg, which was 54,11, 26,20, 19,70% less than Red, Blue and turkeys of the 607 group. Moscow White turkeys had high level of hen housed and hen-day egg production in 20 weeks of
laying, 54,82 and 56,51 eggs, respectively. Among the six breeds, the North Caucasian
Bronze breed had the highest percentage of egg-laying rate in 20 weeks – 40,71%.
