Abstract

The article describes the natural climatic characteristic of the zone with the sufficient moisture in the Stavropol Territory and presents the species composition of gulf coast ticks that cause blood-parasitic diseases in farm animals. The material is presented graphically in the form of tables and maps. As a result of epizootological examination, the gulf coast fauna of the zone with sufficient moisture is represented by 11 species of ticks belonging to 6 gene-ra. The most harmful parasites are the Boophilus calcaratus tick (carrier of bovine piroplas-mosis and francaiellosis), Hyalomna anatolicum (carrier of theileriosis in cattle) and Derma-centor marginatus (carrier of anaplasmosis in sheep). The results of the conducted studies in-dicate that there is still a high number of gulf coast ticks, as well as the danger of the species spread in ecologically favorable places for them. In order to prevent piroplasmosis and theil-eriosis of horned cattle, it is necessary to organize veterinary and anti-tick measures. To com-bat the widespread carriage of animal ticks, it is recommended to use passing and floating baths.
