The Russian poultry industry is characterized by high dynamics and a
growth of the market volume of products. The modern consumer market dictates certain requirements for the range and quality of sold products, so poultry meat production is increasing, but, according to experts, the “quail market” in Russia, despite the emerging upward
trend, has been mastered by no more than 20%. At the same time, the population's growing
desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle is driving demand for dietary and organic agricultural
products, opening up opportunities for the development of quail farming. Rational and efficient use of raw materials is a strategic objective of the feed industry of the Russian Federation. The article presents the results of preclinical studies conducted in 2025 in the vivarium
of FSBSI RosNIISK “Rossorgo” (Saratov, Russia), on the effect of a feed additive containing
grass pea on the growth of Texas White quails. 4 analogues groups of 10-day-old quails of 50
head each were formed, kept in cage batteries, feeding and watering were carried out by the
group method, poultry feed intake was taken into account daily, and control weighing of
quails was carried out weekly. The positive effect of the inclusion of feed additive in the diet
of quails on the growth rate was noted. It was found that replacing 1% of the basic diet with a
feed additive increases the growth rate of quails, as well as reduces feed costs for an increase
in 1 kg of live weight. It is advisable to include the feed additive developed by us in the quail
diet at a dose of 1%.
