PROTEIN REQUIREMENT OF STUD RAMS

Abstract

The stud rams are a small, most important part of the herd, on which the success of fertilized ewes and the subsequent getting of healthy, highly productive offspring depend. Of the many factors affecting the effectiveness of this zootechnical event, the main thing is fully valuable feeding, which should be enhanced especially in the protein part, which affects the quality of sperm. Spermatogenesis is a long and complex process, so the preparation of rams begins in advance of their use. Due to the fact that for many reasons (pricing and quality of feed products, competition for them, and so on), there is a shortage of high-quality protein feed additives in animal husbandry, namely protein is one of the main conditions for the formation of high-quality, viable spermatozoa. This article is a review format for the development of the science of feeding in the field of calculating the requirement of rams for protein during the period of use, depending on the load, and the material shown in it is in demand for practical sheep breeding. The purpose of this work was to analyze and synthesize information on the effect of the protein, which is part of non-traditional feed protein supplements, on the reproductive capacity of rams, namely on the quality of sperm. As a result of the ongoing selection and breeding work in sheep breeding, animals with higher productive genetic potential have been developed, for the realization of which an adjustment in protein requirements is necessary. The analysis of the material showed the need for and the possibility of further adjusting the norms in the nutrient and the prospects of research in this direction, which will contribute to the profitable development of the entire sheep breeding branch, which is represented by the most popular types of products: wool and meat.
