CHANGES IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE INTERNAL ORGANS OF RIVER FISH AFTER THE USE OF AN ELECTRIC FISHING ROD

The article describes the morphological changes in the internal organs of fish after the use of an electric fishing rod. The delivered fish was caught by poaching using electric fishing rods. An autopsy of the fish corpses was performed at the Department of Biology and Gamekeeping, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science and Biotechnology of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Far Eastern State Agrarian University”. The use of electric fishing rod causes environmental damage. This is one of the types of poaching that causes great damage to aquatic biological resources. During the autopsy of the fish, the scheme was the following: when examining tissues and organs, we paid attention to their colour, size, shape, consistency and the pathological signs. An external examination of all fish specimens revealed the preservation of scales and fins. There was no damage to the body from piercing or net fishing gear. An internal examination of all fish specimens revealed: a violation of the shape and structure of the heart; a deflated swim bladder; violation of the shape and structure of the liver, lesions in the form of destruction and tissue liquefaction, diffuse hemorrhages over the entire surface of the liver. The kidneys were dark in colour, the shape and structure were damaged. Some fish specimens had organ changes such as the “unfastening” of the ribs from the muscles of the abdominal wall, rupture of the intestine and internal organs. A huge number of fish die after electrocution. Measures to toughen the punishment for poachers are paying off, but the damage caused to aquatic biological resources can be difficult to renew. The described ichthyopathological consequences of fish damage can be used by environmental authorities to clearly diagnose the lethal effects of electric current on fish.
