Abstract

In order to increase the competitiveness of sheep breeding in Uzbekistan, using the best global gene pool, a new breed group of sheep with meat and wool productivity (Uzbek meat and wool sheep) has been bred. In conditions of year-round pasture keeping, on good natural grasses of seasonal mountain pastures in a harsh continental climate, with high temperature, dry air and intense insolation, specific Akhangaran and Parkent ecotypes of meat and wool sheep were created, and subsequently a pedigree group of meat and wool sheep. In the years 1980-1985 of the last century, the number of such sheep in the republic exceeded 200 thousand heads, and nowadays it is significantly reduced. In the conditions of  such farms as “Kholturaev Oybek KhM” and “Ohang Abdullaev Abdurauf” of the Akhangaran District in the Tashkent Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan, scientific and economic experience is being conducted. Two groups were formed: group I (control), ewe lambs of local fat-rumped sheep (jaidara) of 50 heads, group II (experimental), Uzbek meat and wool ewe lambs, 50 heads. Local fat-rumped ewe lambs have a higher live weight than their meat and wool herd mates. At the same time, the live weight of meat and wool ewe lambs is 3,8 kg (8,9%) lower, and the yield of wool is 1,58 kg (102,6%) higher than that of the local fat-rumped sheep. Absolute average daily gains from birth to three months of life were almost the same for  two groups of lambs.
