The uterus of a cow is represented by a hollow organ that performs the role
of a womb. It is divided into three sections – neck, body and horns. It is located in the pelvic
and abdominal cavities. The reproductive organs of cows undergo serious changes during
pregnancy, and recover quickly in the postpartum period [1,4]. On average, the postpartum
period in cows lasts for 20-22 days, of which the duration and intensity of lochia is 15-17
days [6]. The recovery in the postpartum period may be lingered due to the fact that this organ
is the most susceptible to the effects of various pathogenic factors of endogenous and exogenous nature, especially in the postpartum period. Nowadays, endometritis, especially postpartum, occupy a primary position among inflammatory diseases of the reproductive system of
female animals on dairy farms. According to many domestic and foreign authors, there are
many ways and means of endometritis treatment in cattle. However, their therapeutic effectiveness has a temporary effect. Particular relapses are noted, as well as many complications,
which affect the further productivity of animals [7,10]. It should be noted that this disease also causes significant economic damage to farms, which consists of the cost of treatment and
loss of products. In our work, we will determine the parameters of the general and biochemical blood analysis of cows with endometritis. All the studies were carried out on the basis of
the Hematology Laboratory of North-Caucasus Zonal Scientific Research Veterinary Institute
– branch of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “Federal Rostov Agricultural
Research Centre”. The material was collected from cows of the Red Steppe and Black Pied
breeds with a diagnosis of postpartum purulent-catarrhal endometritis in the amount of 20
head at the farms of the Rostov Region, AO (Joint Stock Company) “Bolshie Saly” and
“Aksaiskaia Niva”. Also, for a comparative analysis of the obtained data, blood samples were
taken from 20 clinically healthy animals.
