One of the ways to solve the problem of obtaining biologically complete,
high-quality and safe food for people is the creation of new herds and farms of healthy animals.
From the literature sources, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, the level of risk of the
considered zoonotic diseases spread among farm animals is characterized as “significant”.
The medium-term prognosis for the development of the situation is “negative”. Although
there has been positive dynamic in recent years in reducing the incidences of animals in epizootic foci, the trends in unfavorable conditions are increasing [1, 2].
The article describes the most common infectious and parasitic diseases of sheep in
the Stavropol Territory. Infectious diseases (anthrax, brucellosis, colibacillosis, paratyphoid,
clostridiosis, listeriosis, foot rot, chlamydial abortion, etc.) pose a serious danger not only to
animals, but also to humans. As for the parasitic diseases, the greatest economic damage to
sheep breeding is caused by monieziasis, dictyocaulosis, fascioliasis, dicroceliasis, echinococcosis, coenurosis, wohlfahrtiosis, oestrosis, and coccidiosis. The terms of diagnostic studies and preventive treatments of animals are described.
For clarity, our recommended plan for conducting veterinary preventive and antiepizootic measures in sheep breeding (with measures and time for their applying) is given in
the table.
