QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE PARAMETERS OF THE WOOL IN SHEEP OF NEW MEAT AND WOOL BREED

The quantitative and qualitative indices of wool productivity in sheep of meat merino breed in different age and sex groups are presented. It was revealed that in the collective farm-breeding plant of “Manych” the clip of greasy wool is 5,3 kg at the yield of washed fiber of 63,6%. The average clip of washed wool (3,4 kg) characterizes the optimal genetic potential of the sheep stock and allows you to improve the herd for achieving the highest rates. The selection potential for clip of washed wool was determined, which is 1,3-3,8 kg or 70,8-80,9%, depending on the age and sex group of animals. The effectiveness of selection according to the thickness, length, fineness and yolk of wool in sheep of the Russian meat merino breed is shown. It has been experimentally proved that the sheep stock of the new fine-fleeced breed is characterized by very thick hair (99,2%). The total thickness of hair follicles is high: 96,2 pcs per 1 mm2. A selection differential for wool length was established, which varies in the context of age and sex groups within 1,0-2,0 cm or 11,1-25,0%. High consolidation of the herd by wool fineness was revealed: 31,3% of animals have wool of 70th quality and above (20-16 microns), 37,8% of wool belongs to the transitional 70-64th quality (21 microns), and 37,8% belongs to 64th quality (22 microns). It is noted that the animals of the new meat and wool breed have a white yolk (98,3%) and a sufficient amount of it (98,6%). It is established that in crude non-degrease wool the amount of wool fat is 10,11%, the amount of wool sweat is 15,59%. The ratio of wool fat : wool sweat is 0,65.
