EFFICIENCY OF LINE BREEDING IN ORIGINATOR FARMS OF RUSSIAN MEAT MERINO BREED

Modern zoo technical science and practice have proved that the most perfect form of
breeding work with a herd is sheep breeding along the lines. The relevance of creating lines in
Russian meat merino breed with high live weight and with specific wool properties that are
persistently transmitted to offspring in the process of improving the genetic structure of a
sheep herd is shown. It has been established that in the structure of the new breed there are six
inbreeding lines: ВК-40, МЕ-50, АС-30, ВС-41, СМ-18, ВИ-59, which differ in the yield of
washed wool, fineness, density, wool crimp, animal live weight. It was revealed that the lines
were created to get animals with a high live weight, wool clip, a better fleece structure and a
higher yield of washed wool. It was noted that linear stud tams of new meat and wool breed
have prepotency and it is advisable to use them to increase meat and wool productivity in
herds. As a result of the data obtained, it was established that the line ancestors are
characterized by high live weight (118-144 kg), greasy wool clip (9.0-13.2 kg), washed wool
yield (61.1-65.9%), wool length (9.0-12.0 cm), and fineness of wool fiber (19-22
micrometer). To effectively increase the productivity in sheep of the Russian meat merino
breed, it is recommended to use high-value line stud rams, as well as exchange genetic
material between the originator farms of the new fine-wool breed of meat and wool
productivity.
